Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples such as Honeycrisp, Gala, or Granny Smith, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the diced apples, 2 tablespoons of flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the 1/2 cup flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Divide the apple mixture evenly among four oven-safe ramekins or small baking dishes. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples in each ramekin.
  • Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
