- 4 medium apples such as Honeycrisp, Gala, or Granny Smith, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the diced apples, 2 tablespoons of flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the 1/2 cup flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Divide the apple mixture evenly among four oven-safe ramekins or small baking dishes. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples in each ramekin.
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
