- 4 large croissants
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese sliced
- 2 medium ripe tomatoes sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves loosely packed
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper optional
Carefully slice each croissant horizontally, almost all the way through, leaving a small hinge.
Layer mozzarella cheese, tomato slices, and fresh basil leaves inside each croissant.
Brush the top and bottom of the croissants with olive oil.
Sprinkle salt over the tomatoes and add black pepper if desired. Drizzle balsamic glaze inside the croissants.
Optionally warm in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes or use a panini press until cheese softens.
