- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional, for cinnamon sugar
- Powdered sugar glaze, or your favorite toppings, for dusting or dipping
Gently unfold your thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
Using a doughnut cutter or cookie cutters, cut out doughnut shapes from the puff pastry. You should get about 6-8 doughnuts.
Pour about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil into a heavy-bottomed pot or deep frying pan. Heat the oil over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
Carefully place the puff pastry doughnuts into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Remove the fried doughnuts with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
While the doughnuts are still warm, toss them in cinnamon sugar or dust them generously with powdered sugar. Alternatively, dip them in your favorite glaze.
